ss17 permanent vacation
After stumbling through the reality of gloomy, corporate controlled city of AW16, the new spring collection expands on the idea of deconstructed tailoring. It re-evaluates values inherent in the traditional Western working costumes and points out conventions that are closely linked to our manners.
The collection radiates a cold and latent violence, but at the same time, it brings deliberation and emancipation. It accents the desire to come back to the honest (hand)work. Loosely inspired by the atmosphere of Jim Jarmush’s Permanent Vacation, it follows the main character Allie walking through dingy New York, reflects the decay of our values and bridges his alienation. Suits are showing their organs, threads abandoning their garments and Allie decides it’s time to leave.
